Hibiscus Blooms Round 2

Red Hibiscus

We are expecting anywhere from 12 to 24 inches of snow by Wednesday morning. Crazy! I haven’t minded the snow this much this year, but I’m going to use our continual blooming hibiscus to remind me that Spring is approaching!

And in other hibiscus related news, I got a cranberry hibiscus juice from Trader Joe’s the other day that is really good.

Huge bloom!

Enjoy,

Liz

Burt’s Bees: Avocado Butter Pre-Shampoo Hair Treatment

Avocado Butter smells yummy

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven’t had any new polishes for you in awhile. To be honest, my nails and cuticles look like absolute rubbish and I just can’t bare to force you to look at pictures of how awful they look. I’ve been letting my nails recuperate.

Instead, I have a hair product that I’ve been using for a couple weeks now. I had been coveting it because I read reviews that it helped with dry/itchy scalp so that’s what I initially got it for. I ended up finding it at Ulta, it wasn’t usually available at other places I went to for Burt’s Bees stuff like CVS and Target.

The directions for this say: Wet your hair and massage about 1 tbsp. of the product into your scalp and through hair then run a wide-toothed comb through your hair. Wait 15 min or more, rinse and shampoo as usual.

Avocado gel...appetizing, huh?

The first thing you notice about the product is that it smells DELICIOUS. Seriously… it’s really sweet and tropical/citrus smelling and is a really nice addition to my shower smells, haha. So after I want to eat it, I put it in my hair. Its kind of irritating to me that I have to wet my hair completely and then put it in, but once you’re over that hump it’s all easy. It’s easy to work the gel into your hands and then all through your hair it’s not solid or chunky or anything like that, the texture is nice.

The directions say you can use this daily, when I first got it I had been using it every time I washed my hair, which is basically every other day. I’ve decided that the more frequently you use it, the better it feels. I don’t really have an extra 15 min. in the morning during the week (ya know what I’m sayin?) so now that I’m not on vacation, I have only used this once a week, on Saturdays. My hair feels wonderful and soft and less dry the day of use, but the next day it pretty much feels back to normal. I do wish you could use this product less frequently and have the results last longer.

My only drawbacks for this are having to wet your hair completely before using the product (if you take especially long showers anyway, it may not be a huge issue) and the use to results ratio. The positive aspects are that it smells great, it does make your hair feel really nice, and it’s inexpensive.

Where To Buy: BurtsBees.com / Drugstore.com / Target (some locations) / Ulta (some locations) / $9

Update

Hey all! Hope you’re having a good holiday season. As Liz mentioned, we have a bunch of new stuff to talk about after the new year and I cannot wait!

I’ve been trying to figure out my parents’ computer and photo editing software for the past 2 days and I honestly cannot even find my photos on this computer now…. very frustrating as you can imagine!

I’m afraid that unless I can figure out where on earth my photos are, you are going to have to wait for Sunday evening for my next post. I do have pictures ready to go for you though. I know… the suspense! Fingers crossed that I’ll be able to get a post up before Sunday, but if not, have a Happy New Year!

New Arrivals!

Some Holiday Buys / Gifts!

I seriously feel guilty about not blogging for the past 5 days! I am sorry! I didn’t wear any new polishes this past week, so I had no material for you guys. But as you can see, I got some polishes as Christmas gifts and bought some over the past few days that I will be writing about as soon as I can! I am going out of town for the New Year to Philadelphia but I will be back in the swing of things when I return. Until then, Lauren will be solely in charge and lonely by herself at Death By Polish. I told her she had to post asap for the both of us!

Have a fun New Years! (Even though much of the time it ends up as a bust!)

Barielle Nail Brightener

I don’t know how many of you nail polish fanatics struggle with staining, but I do. And it totally stinks. I pretty much never go anywhere without my nails painted, so no one really sees my slight staining issue, but I know it’s there and I hate it. But, I recently stumbled upon this nail brightener.

I will say right away that you aren’t suppose to use this with polish on top. I’d prefer one that I could wear polish with. But I’ve been using this product at night. If I am planning on changing polish the next day, I’ll remove my polish at night and slap this on through the night and until I am ready to paint. This product is “natural nail enhancement for dull or yellow nails.” It also has antioxidants for the nail and hydrates them as well. As you can see, it has a milky color, but also it has an iridescent quality, so it’s pearly in the sunlight. It’s not just a clear coat, so it doesn’t look like your nails are completely bare. They still look finished. I have noticed my nails feel better after I have it on. My toes look much brighter and also feel better. More hydrated and smooth, and feel stronger too. Just healthier overall.

I picked this up at TJMaxx for $4, and it’s worth it!
