Sally Hansen Complete Manicure: Barracuda

There were a couple of polishes from this recently released summer Sally Hansen Complete Manicure collabo with Tracy Reese that appealed to me. The creamy summer collection looks relaxing and calming and really drew me in. I picked up a couple of bottles and I pretty much wish I kept my money instead.

Light, breezy blue

Isn’t this polish name kinda fun? I love the color blue and believe it or not, I don’t have that many that fall into this light, breezy tone. The color is very relaxing and pretty. It’s nothing unique or different, but it’s still soothing, calming, and pretty.

Patchy and uneven application

The formula on this polish was fine. It wasn’t too thick like some pastel-ish shades can become. But the application was pretty bad. It was patchy, uneven and full of bald spots. It didn’t correct itself when it (sort of) dried. The drying time was also very long. It seemed to…never dry. I had the same problem with Without A Stitch from this collection. I haven’t had this problem with the Complete Manicure line before, so it was pretty disappointing. Wear time was also not up to par.

Where to Buy: Drugstores / Target / $ 8ish

Did you pick up any of these new Complete Manicure polishes? Or did they not catch your eye? I was excited about Sally Hansen finally expanding this line, but it didn’t live up to the others that I own.

I’m feeling somewhat discouraged about blogging. I feel as though I put a lot of time and effort into Death by Polish and it hasn’t really become what I wanted it to be. I wanted to be able to reach more people in the nail community and know that people really enjoy stopping by my blog in their busy days to relax and read about our shared hobby. And even more so, be able to talk more with others about my polish hobby. I hope that my feelings change because I really loved watching DBP grow and be a part of my “me time”. But it seems to be expanding less and reaching less readers and that, well, bums me out. I really appreciate and enjoy all of our regular readers and want to talk and connect with you guys more!

Nice shade and I am not big on powder blues. They just make me look ill – too pale or something on me. I just adore this formula/line from Sally Hansen. It’s so hard to find any stores that have a decent range of colors in stock however around me. Never thought i would say I adore a SH polish – but this one, that brush is amazing, the coverage is super. I wish it was available in 100 shades easy to find.

    • I also really like this line. The few others that I have had preformed super well in wear, application, and formula which is why these have thrown me for such a loop. I also have never been a SH girl, but I like everything about this line and am super disappointed that this collection is the opposite of what I know from the line.

I also hope they have not changed a thing about this polish formula. I only have a couple that are older. We don’t get new with displays and stuff where I live. I need to take a ride to a Target. Looked last week when I was at a Walmart 60 mils from here. They only had 6 shades.

On your down feelings about blogging right now, remember summer is slow for groups, blogs and all that stuff. I run a group on Yahoo health sites, It always goes way down traffic wise in the summer. Other months it will have 200-300 posts a month. Folks get busy in the summer and their routines change come mid May.

You are reaching a lot more than you know. I have noticed on other nail blogs the posted replies are really low right now.

    • Aw, thanks for pep talk! I know people are busy in the summer and aren’t spending as much time online, it’s just a bummer to see traffic decrease at a large amount and not take it personally! But, I started this blog for myself and getting to talk with all of you is just a bonus. πŸ™‚

I bought Coral Fever from this collection/season, and had the same exact issues. Never dried, patchy, uneven, and kind of hard to apply.

    • I’m so glad I didn’t purchase that one as well. I have no idea what is going on with this collection since it is quite the opposite of the Complete Manicure line that I am used to.

I love your blog! It’s one of my absolute favorites. There have been many many times where you’ve blogged about a polish and I’ve had to go out and buy it myself! πŸ™‚

In addition – I only own one Sally Hansen Complete Manicure – Naked Ambition…and i hate it! haha

    • Hey Ally,
Aw, thank you so much! It’s so nice to hear that and means a lot you took the time to let me know. πŸ™‚

On to SH – That’s so weird. The few I have of them I really like and have been waiting for them to expand on the line since the base collection of colors always seemed pretty boring to me. I have no idea why these ones were so terrible!

I agree with… all of the above!! I love your blog sooooooo much!

  9. aww sorry you are feeling down. i start to feel this way in the summer too. it’s too damn hot! i get that way around the holidays at the end of the year too. don’t get discouraged! sometimes all you need is a break πŸ™‚

LOVE this color on you! it’s one of the few new SH salon colors i have. i detest the new ‘broom’ style brush, but i found i’m getting used to it. and i love the name of this one. ooooooohhhh barracuda!

    • Hi Kellie!
Isn’t it weird how certain times of the year you’re just, like, so over everything? Haha. I actually love summer so much, but I just have a few things going on in my personal life that I think are just pouring over into my interest and desire to blog. I’m hoping it’s going to be short lived because I need an outlet for my polish thoughts.

Thanks! I feel like it would look super good on you too since you have darker skin. I’m kind of indifferent on the brush. Sometimes I feel like it’s harder to control and apply the polish, but then at the same time I like that it seems to hold more polish.

Don’t be discouraged! There are many of us out there who like and follow your blog. I really love it, and always check it. I appreciate your sincerity above all. You are very thorough and objective in your reviews, which definitely sets you apart! Keep up the good work πŸ™‚

    • Hey Circusgirl,
This was such a nice comment to receive. It was really sweet, thank you! I am on my way to nipping being discouraged in the butt. I really enjoy blogging and want to continue to be here for you to read!

Keep blogging Liz, I read it regularly, and you’ve seen for yourself I paint my nails now! Keep doin you.

And if you want to create a sister blog about fishtailing, I’m totally on board.

    • Aw, thanks ASH. I know that I did help you get your paint on, which is awesome.

Just don’t let anyone see my blog on your phone since they will just ask about being killed by someone from Poland and I will be humiliated, again. πŸ˜‰
